Winter...San Diego Style

In entertaining Jeff's parents, who are in town from Tuscon, AZ, we hit all the popular San Diego scenic spots. As cliche as it might be, there is no denying how gorgeous the ocean and beach are, especially at sunset. Here's some of what you'll get if you visit (sorry, no pictures of the great food, but rest assured, we have that covered).

Mt. Soledad in La Jolla gives 360 degree views of the San Diego coast.
Behind Sue and Dave is La Jolla Shores (about a mile west of where I live)

This is Mission bay and Downtown San Diego where I go to school. (15 mins south of where I live)

From December to March is "pupping" season in La Jolla Cove. (Baby seal season)
The fact that it's winter makes no difference to the SCUBA divers, surfers, paddle boarders, skim boarders, and snorkelers.

Coronado is a quaint beach community with brilliant sunsets. The most famous attraction is the Hotel Del Coronado (better known as the "Hotel Del"). It's huge, luxurious and lives up to the hype!
This is just the front. There is about half a street block of rooms, bungalows, and cottages along the beach. There are also several nice restaurants, shops and an ice skating rink (for the winter only).

Sunset from Coronado.

Winter is the best time to visit, clear skies, 71 degrees by the coast today (even hotter out east), and much fewer tourist. Off to Balboa Park tomorrow!
